fun videos

Ains rockin' out to a steel drum band at Eastern Market:

I only wish I had vids of her singing ALL of the pop radio music she has picked up during our summer.  (I've been a little lax on protecting little ears and have been blasting my favorite tunes -- which she promptly learned.).  Her favorites?

Somebody That I Used To Know
Here's My Number, Call Me Maybe
Rumor Has It
Set The World On Fire:

Best way to learn how to ride:

catching fireflies:

El Derecho: the storm that marched through DC this summer and nailed the area pretty bad.  We watched as it approached, then skirted, our KOA campsite:

Elizabeth Mitchell in the woods!

Elizabeth Mitchell
Children's folksinger extraordinaire.
Introduced to us by Sarah.

Lucky for us - she came through DC this summer!

We went with our theater-group friends (you've seen them before on this blog!) in the beautifully breathtaking outdoor 'theater in the woods' - part of Wolf Trap.  An artistic venue unlike any I've ever seen.

Isn't this SPECTACULAR!?

A's friends have new little sibs.  Soon she will too!

Patriotic Girl
Boy, did it surprise daddy when his little girl came home busting out this tune every time she spotted an American Flag!!  (Or even thought of one, really, I mean, let's be honest.)  Part and parcel of traditional schooling at Nursery. :)
(I love it!... especially the 'oceans white with phone')

She also bursts into "You're a Grand Old Flag! You're a High Fivin' Flag" :)  at the most unexpected moments.  Wonder what her mental image of that one is like...

Shake It Senorita

a bit of the ADD version...
my favorite part: "shaaaake it like a mustard!"  (?)

I know a girl named daddy...

A favorite song of Ainsley's.... I think it has something to do with daddy's natural dancing ability. :)

Jake Jake Bo Bake

initial sound substitution and rhyming -- and just plain FUN

This and That...

So much has happened these past 2 months... I'm throwing everything up on the same post to 'catch up' before Christmas.

Ains - The Chatterbox

Teacher's Conference in Orlando!!!
Here we are with the 2 Sisters ~ I am a HUGE HUGE fan. Yes, they are from "Seattle".

What's time away from home without a little fun?
Love the Hyatt statues...

and home we go....

Afternoon to the Carousel and Smithsonian Castle

Hello, Hitchcock...

The O Street Mansion
(with 32 secret doors! - we only found 5!)

you can actually rent rooms here to stay for the night too!

a secret door behind a bookshelf!

Oh, You Better Watch Out!...

Our Music-Driven Girl... (at a baby shower)

Capitol Tree Lighting... under 20 degrees w/ wind
(note: TOO cold!)

Mess!

The Mini Nut!
Ains was transfixed - she can now tell you the entire story of The Nutcracker in FULL DETAIL.  The highlight was, I think, when the music paused - and  Ainsley shouted from the audience "Someday, I will do that!"

Gingerbread House!

Classic Moment:
A: "Mommy, Daddy's not here.  Can you talk about cats?"
Me: "Yes, I can."
A: "Why?"

White Coral Bells

Especially for Auntie Sarah - thanks for teaching me the song!  I'm testing out my different singing voices and try to sound just like you and my cousins. xxoo!

The Sun Has Gone...

Ah - such SUCH a good movie...

This is her favorite part!

Please forgive us for our singing.... this has become our nightly ritual. Ains must do this every night before she goes up for her bath and bed routine.  Every. Night.
