Sunday Snapshot

I got the idea for a 'Sunday Snapshot' blog posting after talking with our good friend, Brian, when he was here visiting from Seattle.  He was telling tales of his precocious and adorable 4 year old daughter.  My favorite parts of our conversation were when he told 'snapshots' of her life.  Moments captured in a few words - that made me really feel like I was there. These 'snapshots' gave me a deeper sense of what his family life is like and who his daughter is growing up to be.

Without further ado -- our 'Sunday Snapshot' entry for the week:

Jasper scooped up Ainsley and headed the 5 or 6 steps it takes to get to the kitchen.  Without missing a beat, Ainsley queried,
"Where goin', daddy? Where goin'?"  (ummmm... the kitchen.)
Too proud of her new mastery of the English Language, Ainsley finds every opportunity to try out her new favorite phrases.  1. (see above)   2. "What r doin', mommy?  What r doin'?"  I guess seeing her mommy dig holes in the dirt and stuffing flowers in there didn't quite match her concept of how things should work.  She promptly grabbed a handful of soil and sprinkled it on top of each and every freshly planted flower (photos coming).

Hello BEACH

Arrival: I mean seriously, look at those houses in the background!

Oh, glorious sun! Sparkling waves! Soothing sand! Island magic.
A special trip for mommy and ains - hangin' with our dear friend Joelle at the BEST beach on the planet: Ocracoke Island.  Nearly 400 miles (each way!) in the car - nothin' but girl time.
Lovin the locals - Can I get a kitty of my own??

'Off beach' time was fun too.  A trip to the local schoolyard.  A fancy girly dinner after Ains went to bed. Some football playing and tractor-adoration while waiting for the ferry trip off the island on the way home.
We must have seen about 100 dolphins swim by... unless they were swimming in a circle!

all by myself!

I opened the fridge, got out my soy milk, opened the twist top, got the 4 pieces of my sippy cup from the cupboard, poured the milk, put together the sippy, and had a drink all by myself! (Before mommy or daddy knew what was happening.. hee hee!)

drawing circles

Our baby girl is growing up - she's moved on from the sideways scribble-scrabble to circles... amazing to witness!

jumping girl!

Ains did this over and over and over again. Neighbor Lilly's voice is the other one on this vid. Now Ains can't go outside without running through the dirt and jumping off the neighbor's stoop.
