There are MANY venues very happy to accommodate, we are learning. However, they all have specialized pricing when you bring a group of children to celebrate a birthday. Prices range from $175 at the low end to $650 for a "fairytale tea party with tutus" at Petite Ballet. No - that's not a typo. $650. Hmmmm - what ever happened to meeting a bunch of kids at a park or at your house and playing toss the balloon and such? Oh, you need a larger house - maybe a suburban house - for that.
We are still undecided... but that chaotic mass of toddlers & parents in our 500 (400?) square foot main floor is looking better and better. :)
Do you have friends with a larger place, who wouldn't mind you giving the party there as long as you planned everything? (Are there any "Build-a-Bears there? I've witnessed families having a party there, then they probably just go out for ice-cream afterward or something, probably not as much fun as a party would be in a home though!) Of course, for $650.00, you could fly here and have the part, LOL)
ReplyDeleteseriously!!!
ReplyDeleteinteresting idea about having it at a friends' house.... hmmmmmm
Holy wow! Makes country living that much more appealing! I think mom is on to something with looking into using someone else's home... Or SOMETHING. I guess this time of year it is a bit cold out to use a park... Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the process of trying to plan Sam's first birthday, and have been trying to plan her baptism for at least six months!!! Gregg is Catholic and the local Church only does baptism's the first Saturday of the month and none during "holy months" so December was out from the get-go. Then, July and September were holiday weekends, and October and November our Godparents had plans. So, we found another church a little further away that does baptisms every Sunday, during mass. FABULOUS!!! I think, "ok, I will do Sam's birthday and baptism on the same day!!!" Problem, her birthday weekend is the first Sunday of Lent (holy month, they don't do baptism's) and my mom is gone the week before!!! Even in Cali it's too cold to do an outside party in March, so we will be doing the at-home thing. I TOTALLY understand about the pricing!!! Do you have any local pizza parlors? Ones that don't do "party" rates? When I worked for Round Table we would get a lot of parties and we never did a "party" minimum. I understand about the limited space issue, we've considered renting some outdoor heaters if it is too cold when we have Sam's party. Thinking outside the box is sometimes a way to go? Finding a place that only provides minimal at a low cost and then bringing in something crafty or some games? Good luck!!!
