Springtime Daybook

outside my window...
The wind is making the trees dance.

I'm thankful for...
dancing. I am only ever my whole self when dance is a part of my life.

I am thinking about...
Reggio Schools - I visited St. John's this past week to gain insight into the craft of teaching Early Childhood. I. am. in. love.

I am working on...
my to-do list... it's about a mile long. Well, actually, since I'm writing in this daybook I'm procrastinating from my to-do list which might be why it's so long...

learning all the time...
Ainsley has been learning and practicing her two-foot jumps. (see video at cherry blossoms post). She's also been learning to draw circles... her latest is a spiral of a few circles. Sometimes she says it's a 'little dot', sometimes 'a body'.

from the kitchen...
We tried a couple of new things this week! (applause!)
1. Mahi Mahi - baked & served w/ a home-made sauce from the drippings & rice. Ains chowed.
2. this chick-pea/black bean blend from Trader joes - yummy

I am creating...
plants in the kitchen window!

I am going...
back to St. John's school next month to learn more. I'm going to ballet every week again.

I am reading...
  • Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll :: great read! Even as an adult.
  • Your Two Year Old - Louis Bates Ames :: insightful
  • My Two Year Old Eats Octopus - Nancy Tringali Piho :: amazing. Written by a current kindergarten parent of mine. A must read if you parent a little one -witty, well written, and informative. We've made several changes because of this book! (click link and purchase!)
I am hoping...
Ainsley's current bumps and bruises heal up soon and aren't worse than they seem. And also that she stays healthy after this bout of antibiotics.

I am praying...
actually, I'm looking for a good first prayer to teach Ainsley to add to her bedtime routine.

I am hearing...
Enya. and wind outside.

around the house...
hopefully will fix the knife-drawer-cover this weekend and put up the little coat hooks so Ains can be in charge of her own coat/hat. Jasper's big 'pleco' fish bit the dust - we think the new domineering goldfish ate all of his food.

heard this week...
groggy & half-way between sleep and awake from Ainsley's room:
"Maaaama. I want go downstairs. I want Yo Gabba Gabba."
When asked: Where will we go today?
"Audrey's house!" (sorry, babe - not till August!)
one of my favorite things..
flowers.

a few plans for next week...
work. ainsley. basic clean up.

a video thought I'm sharing with you...

  1. Ainsley's idea is better: come to Audrey's house *today!*
